Managing and Protecting The Hoopa Valley's Most Precious Natural Resource: The Trinity River
Welcome to our temporary homepage!
We are working to provide current and relevant information to the public regarding the Hoopa Valley Tribe's most precious resource: the Trinity River, and the fish that depend on it for survival. The Hoopa people have depended on the fish and resources of the Trinity River for millennia for subsistence and cultural survival.
The Hoopa Valley Tribal Fisheries Department's work to restore and co-manage the Trinity River spans three decades. The Department was established by the Hoopa Valley Tribal Council following severe declines in Trinity River Salmon stocks, which was largely a result of hydrolic mining, damming, diversion, and irresponsible logging practices on or near the Trinity River.
